The success of High School Musical following its release in 2006 turned the film into a franchise with follow-up features and spin-offs.
The movie scooped awards including Soundtrack Album of the Year by giving us never-to-be-forgotten songs including Breaking Free, and launched the careers of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens into superstardom.
It reached somewhat of a cult status among fans, and now they have taken to social media to share the hilarious little details in the films which makes them “so flawed but yet so perfect”.
TikTok user @Nateredmount shared a clip which has since been viewed more than 740,000 times, as he said: “Thinking about that time a HSM extra walked into a corner and the director thought we wouldn’t notice.”
The scene shows Troy Bolton and Chad Danforth walking down the school corridor with basketball in hand, while behind them an extra in an orange top appears to walk aimlessly into a dead end wall.
The video left people in stitches as one said: “THE WAY SHE LOOKED DIRECTLY INTO THE CAMERA.”
A second replied: “She wanted to go to Hogwarts”, a third wrote: “Wait this is so funny”, and another added: “I often felt like doing this in high school tbh.”
However, one eagle-eyed viewer appeared to save the blushes of both the extra and editing team, as they argued: “She’s walking to talk to someone who is leaning against a wall! You can see their arm!”
People added other questionable details they had spotted in the movies, as one explained: “There’s a master shot of the Wildcats running off the court and you can see another camera crew.”
Other examples included Troy checking the time on an invisible watch, the same character changing clothes mid-song, and the reflection of a microphone boom in Sharpay’s sunglasses.
One viewer said: “TikTok is forcing me to REWATCH HSM because ya’ll have showed me EVERY flaw in the movie.”
